The "vital statistics" and "local history" indexes provide leads to information in 19th century newspapers, individually compiled scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, compiled biographical sketches and local histories, which lack adequate indexes. The library has a printed copy of the 1790 United States census as well as microfilm copies of the Ohio census, 1820-1840; and the census for southwestern Ohio counties, 1850-1920. Privately compiled indexes are available for the Ohio census: 1820-1860 and 1880 and Hamilton County: 1870. Indexes for many county vital statistic records, and published town, county and family histories are in the collections. Manuscript collections include family papers and business and organization records, as well as microfilm copies of 19th and early 20th century Hamilton County deed records. The photograph collection has nearly 700,000 photographic images of people, geographic locations and structures.
