About the exhibit Discover five centuries of African American history. It’s the American story, like it’s never been told before, through more than 250 rare and stunning artifacts from all over the globe. The Cincinnati exhibition also includes the Cincinnati Black Brigade Flag; artifacts from Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin; and a rededicated Spirit Gallery, showcasing the African American church in Cincinnati. New to the exhibit, the only touring print of the Declaration of Independence dating back to July 4, 1776. This print of the Declaration - a "broadside" sheet printed in Philadelphia only hours after Jefferson was finished drafting the language - will be displayed at the Cincinnati Museum Center until October 2, 2010. This print is one of only 26 known to exist. Generations of Americans, from all walks of life, are coming together to be inspired, enlightened and empowered. It's America's story! America I AM: The African American Imprint is developed in partnership with Tavis Smiley, and is organized by Cincinnati Museum Center and Arts and Exhibitions International (AEI).
