POSITION:

CURATOR OF INVERTEBRATE PALEONTOLOGY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requires a PhD in Geology or completion of the degree requirements pending dissertation. Requires a specialization in Late Ordovician invertebrate paleontology. Oversees the research and curatorial activities of the department of Invertebrate Paleontology. Provides direction for the Department as to the mission, vision, and goals of the Cincinnati Museum Center. Fosters the Department’s research, artifact collections management practices, data compilation and analysis, curation and technical services and facilitation of their use by internal and external audiences. Raises research funds via grant writing and donor cultivation. Responsibility for the Department of Invertebrate Paleontology’s staffing and budget development. Works with curators within the Museum, the Registrar and exhibit staff to advance the activities of the Department of Invertebrate paleontology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a PhD in Geology or completion of the degree requirements pending dissertation. Requires a specialization in Late Ordovician invertebrate paleontology. A minimum of one year of collection, curation and/or fieldwork experience with Cincinnati Arch rocks and fossils is needed. The Curator will also have an established program of original, specimen-based research upon the Cincinnatian Series and its fossils, with a publication history of innovative research of national significance based upon Late Ordovician fossils. A demonstrated ability to raise research and curation funds via grant writing and/or donor cultivation is required.
