RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ECSITE (Early Childhood Science and inquiry Training for Educators) Coordinator’s purpose is to manage a professional development program in inquiry-based early childhood science teaching for all teachers in the Northern Kentucky Head Start centers.  Coordinator will be the liaison between Museum Center staff, teachers, and all community partners involved in ECSITE program and will coordinate teaching sessions, teaching supplies and professional development materials and mentor visits.

 

Responsibilities include coordinating and managing:

Teacher professional development material

Teacher ECSITE Program documentation such as surveys, evaluations, etc.

Scheduling and logistics for major ECSITE Program elements including

  Inquiry Workshop and Practice Workshops, Family Night, etc. as well as

  documentation of field trips and program on Wheels use by Program

Classrooms with a mentor who will assist teachers in implementing inquiry-

   based science activities and setting up classroom science learning space.

Survey and data search for community, virtual, and low-cost resources in

   early childhood science teaching, activities and classroom modeling.

 

This position will also support teachers in building a self-sustaining teacher support network that includes a “train the trainer’ model, virtual science teacher network and Science Teacher hotline.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree or 3+ years applicable job experience. Degree is science, education, or related field preferred. Familiarity with educational program development and delivery is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred. Budget management experience preferred. Ability to enthusiastically build relationships with teachers, school systems, and community organizations required. Must enjoy working with groups of teachers and parents with varied socio-economic backgrounds. Must be self motivated, have a good driving record, and pass background check. Must provide own transportation that is capable of holding and transporting required materials and supplies. Computer skills must include word and Excel. Must be able to create and manipulate databases.

 

Position requires driving a personal and museum owned vehicle. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 

Hourly part-time position (30 hours/week). Typical work week is M - F, with occasional weekend and evening hours required. This is a two year program with grant funding.
