High Steel of Union Terminal

Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 10 to 11:30 a.m., 10:30 to noon, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cincinnati Heritage Programs is looking forward to having you join us on our High Steel of Union Terminal tour. Below is important information that will assist you and the docents in making our event safe and timely.

This tour takes place at Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to tour start time.

NOTICE OF CONDITIONS HIGH STEEL TOUR:
There are over 300 steps to the apex of the “high steel.” Several areas of steps are on ladders. There are low overhangs to navigate while ascending and descending on the ladders. Please wear slacks, sturdy shoes, and washable clothes. No skirts, open-toed shoes, flip flops or sandals permitted.

Must be at least 12 years of age and if under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Segments of this tour are not appropriate for people who:

  • are sensitive to heights
  • are sensitive to very warm areas
  • have heart conditions
  • have anxiety about being in dark, dusty, confined, narrow or steep places
  • have a physical condition affecting balance
  • have difficulty climbing
  • need to avoid strenuous activity because of a medical condition

NO PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED.

No personal items are to be brought on the tour such as purses, cameras, cell phones or flashlights.

Lockers are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis in the Lower Level lobby and toward the back of the Rotunda. Lockers cost $1 per day and can be purchased with a credit card.

If vision glasses are worn, please make sure they are securely fitted at all times. We also suggest that you not wear any hanging or loose-fitting jewelry. Cincinnati Museum Center cannot be held responsible for personal items that are dropped, lost or damaged during the tour.

Parking at Union Terminal:

  • Members: Please scan your membership card when you arrive and depart from the parking lot.
  • Non-Members: When you arrive, please take the ticket the parking machine provides. You will also receive a sticker at check-in. Please place sticker on the back of the parking ticket for complimentary parking. When you depart scan the parking ticket and then the sticker on the back to exit the parking lot.

Visit Tower A

Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.; Noon to 12:45 p.m.; 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Cincinnati Heritage Programs is looking forward to having you join us on our Visit Tower A tour. Below is important information that will assist you and the docents in making our event safe and timely.

Children 10 years of age and older are permitted with an adult.

There are approximately 35 steep steps to Tower A.

No selfie sticks or tripods permitted.

This tour takes place at Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. The meeting site is by entrance to Reakirt Auditorium.

Parking at Union Terminal:

  • Members: Please scan your membership card when you arrive and depart from the parking lot.
  • Non-Members: Cincinnati Museum Center parking is $6 per vehicle and free for Members and guests using the Museums for All discount. Guests should take a ticket from the gate to enter. Guests can pay at the box office, through the QR code on the ticket or at the pay-on-foot parking machine next to the Public Safety office. Guests may pay at the exit with credit card, but we recommend paying before returning to your vehicle.

Hannaford Architectural Walking Tour

Friday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Meeting site:
This tour meets outside of the old Washington Platform Restaurant at 1000 Elm Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220. Look for Cincinnati Heritage Programs’ docents at corner of Elm and Court Streets.

  • Please arrive 20 minutes early to allow for check-in and ensure prompt start time.
  • Dress for the weather.
  • There is standing throughout the entire tour.
  • Wear comfortable shoes; we suggest no sandals or open-toe shoes.
  • There will be uneven sidewalks.
  • No restrooms available.
  • Lunch or water is not included.
  • Must be at least 12 years of age or older. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • To make it easier for metal detector scanning at City Hall, minimize what you carry. We suggest wearing cross-over style purses or fanny packs.

Please note: If this tour is cancelled due to severe weather prediction, tour will be held on November 21 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Severe weather being severe storms, dangerous lighting, or tornado warnings.

Please print the entire release form, read, sign and bring both pages with you the day of your tour. Each person in your party needs to sign a release form to participate on the tour. Your waiver must be in the hands of a Cincinnati Museum Center representative prior to the tour.
